Band Studio CD Live CD

"Hardpan" CD - Blue Rose Records - 2002

We converged at Chris and Kelly Burroughs' studio/home in Tucson, Arizona on September 10, 2001 where we would live and record for the next 10 days. There was a small party that first night as we were happy to finally be together to start this project. We awoke the next morning to September 11.

We decided to proceed making this record as there were only the 10 days to do so before we all, once again, scattered for our own respective corners of the world. This music and the band itself were forged during those dark days and it is our belief and wish that you can hear Hardpan's collective affirmation of life, hope and love within the songs on this CD.

For our nations, we urge the voice of reason. Peace and Justice are not easily accomplished. The great challenge is to succeed through respect, wisdom and restraint. Our wish is for this to be the path.

This is a song Chris & I wrote in Tucson in Mat of '01. We were jamming in his front porch late one night and we came up with the music. I went home and wrote the lyrics in Philly the next week. I wanted it to have a desert vibe and I think we accomplished that. Only the bass and Chris' background vocal were overdubbed. - JP

This song was written after a long night of tequila and orange juice. I woke up the next morning with the chorus in my head and it just wouldn't go away. Later on I sang it for the boys and we all decided that it was worth finishing. Out came the guitars and within a short time we had the rest of the music worked out. Then Terry Lee told me to go away and finish the lyrics. I did my best and the rest is history as they say. It's nice to have a song on the record that was written during the sessions and that we all had a hand in. We cut this song all together with no overdubs. - TT
